Small Generator Replacements at Various Regulator and Outfall Stations

Seattle, WA

Overview

King County is replacing aging, small back-up generators at outfall and regulator stations located within the City of Seattle jurisdiction.

Land Survey, 3D LiDAR

Furtado provided surveying and utility location services to develop the existing conditions for sixteen stations to be used by the design team. Traditional survey methods and 3D LiDAR scanning were used to collect survey data and create the existing condition basemaps. Control points were established near each site to create a baseline for the survey data. The basemaps included surface features and underground and above ground utilities.

Civil Engineering

Furtado calculated boundary lines for each site. Other Right-of-Way services included analyzing and reviewing title reports to determine easements and encumbrances. One of the subtasks for this project required scanning the interior of each station to determine the location to install new wiring systems. The space inside of a few stations are constrained which made it difficult to collect data using a traditional surveying method. During the final design phase, Furtado initiated ROW task force meetings to discuss the critical property acquisitions. The meetings involved the GC and CM staff to collaborate and confirm with the design team all the ROW data needed during construction.
