Engineering Technician VI
Furtado is a leading consulting engineering, land surveying and construction management firm in Seattle, WA. We are a small, privately held firm that works on transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Puget Sound area, including Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail Extensions and numerous projects for WSDOT and SDOT. Our busy office currently has an opportunity for a professional and experienced individual to fill the role of Survey Technician VI. Job Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be part of the Land Surveying team working primarily in the office or remotely from your home office if deemed appropriate. You will work and collaborate daily with your assigned manager and with the other Survey Technicians on the team. This position reports directly to the Technical Project Manager and ultimately the Furtado Survey Manager. Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Work with survey data collection files that are composed of points and linework. Review together with digital and written field notes, pictures, aerial imagery or 3D point cloud information to verify and integrate into a final composite map or survey deliverable
- Interpret survey field-notes and sketches to incorporate field survey data for the purposes of creating and update Right-of-Way, Record of Surveys, ALTA, and topographic drawings and DTMs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Reduction of as-built measurements and calculations that are incorporated into drawings or supporting survey documents
- Perform QC of own work at key points in the workflow. Provide independent QC for other survey tech team members including constructive comments to fix errors
- Will be asked to perform occasional field visits, which will require survey field work outdoors
- Interact and collaborate with office and field staff regarding project specifics, data, issues and procedures
Qualifications & Requirements:
- An associate degree or completion of a technical trade school in Engineering, Land Survey, CAD, or related field is desired, but not required
- 5+ years of CAD specific work experience in land surveying or civil engineering
- A demonstrated general knowledge of survey, mapping, utilities, and engineering are desired
- Dedication to organization and communication with team
- Self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic environment, able to complete assignments correctly, able to respond quickly, and adaptable to changing situations
- Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certification desired, but not required. We are excited to get folks on the path to their professional licensure if that is where they want to go!
- Experience with Autodesk Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation
- A clean driving record and a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to acquire one prior to employment.
- Familiarity with 3D Laser Scanning; LiDAR; GNSS/GPS (specifically Trimble); robotic total station; TBC/Trimble Access; Autodesk Civil3D; Google Earth Pro; Bluebeam Revu; MicroSurvey StarNet

Salary Range:
$43.68 – $54.60/hour
