Electrical/ITS Field Inspector
Furtado is a leading consulting engineering, land surveying and construction management firm in Seattle, WA. We are a small, privately held firm that works on transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Puget Sound area, including Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail Extensions and numerous projects for WSDOT and SDOT. Our busy office currently has an opportunity for a professional and experienced individual to fill the role of Electrical/ITS Inspector to work on an upcoming project in the Seattle area. Our construction management services are in high demand and with our upcoming project list expanding, we need a qualified Field Inspector to join our team.
The Position:
This position requires a range of duties related typically to roadway, transit and rail jobs. You will be responsible for overseeing daily electrical/ITS activities on the project site. You will report to the Project Manager but are expected to work independently with little to no immediate supervision. Because you will be the face of the company when working in the field and interfacing with clients, contractors and the general public, you have the skills to be a professional and effective communicator.
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Verify that material supplied in the field matches the appropriate material approvals
- Observe the installation of all illumination, traffic signal, and ITS materials in the field. No work may be performed and no materials may be installed without the Electrical/ITS Field Inspector present or notified.
- Work closely with the WSDOT Engineer and notify them when there is a question regarding any illumination, traffic signal, or ITS equipment installation
- Observe the daily field activities related to installation of the highway electrical systems, traffic signals, and electrical compliance with the project requirements
- Coordinate and prepare daily Inspector’s Reports and track the installation progress
- Prepare field note records for progress payment
- Ability to perform field work as needed
- Review project plans, schedules and specifications and prioritize schedules and assignment accordingly
- Coordinate between contractors, clients, manager and office employees
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Journey Level Electrician certificate (EL-01) issued by Washington State Department of Labor and Industries and 2 or more years experience in the installation of highway electrical systems, including any combination of illumination, traffic signal, and ITS systems; or:
- 4 or more continuous years experience in the installation of highway electrical systems, including any combination of illumination, traffic signal, and ITS systems; or:
- 2 years of electrical training in a college of electrical engineering and 2 or more years experience in the installation of highway electrical systems, including any combination of illumination, traffic signal, and ITS systems
- A clean driving record and a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to acquire one prior to employment
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Excellent professional and effective communication in order to maintain working relationships with clients, engineers, general contractors, managers, as well as others
- Ability to work in a collaborative and diverse environment
- Experience utilizing computer programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook

Salary Range:
$40.00 – $50.00 per hour
