Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and Shoreline, WA
Overview
The Lynnwood Link is an 8.5-mile segment of light rail from the Northgate Station in the City of Seattle that stretches along the I-5 corridor to the existing Lynnwood Transit Center. The project consists of elevated and retained cut/fill trackway construction, 4 light rail stations, each with vertical circulation and off-street bus transfer facilities and 3 parking garage structures (500-1500 stalls each).
Land Survey
Furtado performed field surveying to support locating services of geotechnical borings, piezometers, testholes, and existing utilities within project limits. Furtado developed surface files and survey basemaps to support the Final Design team in the design of the light rail system, roadway reconfigurations and utility relocations.
Right-of-way Engineering
Furtado has developed and provided 191 right-of-way (ROW) plan sheets, 280 parcel maps, 280 legal descriptions, 51 ALTA surveys, 53 WSDOT airspace lease documents, 55 temporary construction easements, 10 lot boundary adjustments, and one binding site plane. Furtado was responsible for collecting ROW monumentation data. The basemap included the calculation of property boundary lines, utility information and as-built research. Furtado also provided engineering support which included coordination with appraisers to determine appropriate offers to landowners and coordination with other agencies on the transfer of properties for Sound Transit. As the project reaches completion, Furtado will also prepare the closeout documents for the City of Lynnwood and WSDOT.
Construction Management
As a subconsultant, Furtado has been providing construction engineering, inspection, document control and administrative support services. During the final design phase, Furtado initiated ROW task force meetings to discuss the critical property acquisitions. The meetings involved the GC and CM staff to collaborate and confirm with the design team all the ROW data needed during construction.
